KNX UK Board Member Paul Jones, was among the speakers at the UL Laboratory Launch event in Basingstoke recently.  The facility has recently undergone a huge extension, 37,000 sq feet to the existing facility dedicated to lighting and wireless testing.

From state-of-the-art, sound-proofed frequency testing rooms to temperature, humidity, fire safety and pressure testing of electrical components it is an impressive site.

KNX UK was invited to join in the lunch and laboratory tours with speeches from experts including our very own Paul Jones who spoke about the history of the KNX* open protocol and how it has earned its success from being the only worldwide standard in buildings controls.

The KNX logo on a controls product guarantees direct interoperability with thousands of diverse products from over 500 manufacturers and many more via gateway, IP or RF. It is secure, robust and backward compatible making it the most adaptable and sustainable way of building a controls system, that won’t ever need to be completely replaced when new functions are required, as technology advances or tastes in aesthetics change.

We were delighted to be joined by representatives from our manufacturing members –  Rob Aitken of Wandsworth – the home of GIRA in the UK and Andy Davies of Intesis part of HMS Networks. Both of whom agreed the day had been very worthwhile.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Paul, Rob and Andy for representing KNX UK at this event and to everyone at UL Solutions for making this a great day.
