Last week, I had the privilege of joining my fellow KNX National Group representatives in Split, Croatia, for our annual conference.

The event followed directly after the KNX Executive Board (KEB) North Star Conference, which was held at the same venue the previous day, providing an excellent opportunity for sharing insight with the wider KNX community.

With representatives from over 20 nations and more than 60 participants in total, the discussions were engaging and highly valuable — offering perspectives that can be shared and applied across different regions to strengthen KNX global collaboration.

What is clearly evident is that while things go ahead as normal above the horizon, the preparations for the next wave of innovations is being both carefully considered and thoughtfully accommodated. Alternate systems and methods are not necessarily a threat, but they should not be ignored and in fact, many of them are now compatible with KNX and this can really complement and enhance a buildings operation.

KNX has continually shown that it is ahead of the curve. It was IoT before that became a common term. It was measuring and collecting data before metering became a pre-requisite in the commercial space and it is absolutely ready for the varying ecosystems and control methods that are being developed and utilised worldwide.

When I chose to work with KNX in 2003, as a solution to offer my clients, I really hoped at the time I would not be needing to learn yet another protocol if KNX did not work for us. I have not had to, I do not need to and I can confidently say that KNX will still be doing what it does for many years to come.

Thank you @KNX Croatia, Thank you @KNX Association and best wishes to all my colleagues and friends in this wonderful KNX community.
