The rollout of KNX training across the UK is gaining momentum, as Theben Academy announces its KNX Basic Certification course, delivered from its base at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) in Swindon.
This initiative supports KNX UK’s mission to expand the adoption of KNX and raise industry standards through certified training, manufacturer expertise, and distributor collaboration.
Certified training that builds confidence
The KNX Basic Certification course is the ideal starting point for electricians, integrators, and smart home professionals who want to enter the KNX world.
Across 30 hours of training delivered over four days, participants will cover both theory and hands-on workshops. The course focuses on core KNX applications including lighting, shading, and scene control, while also tackling:
- KNX project design and commissioning with ETS
- Topology, bus devices, telegrams, and diagnostics
- Powerline and RF installations
- Troubleshooting common system issues
The course concludes with a theoretical and practical exam. On successful completion, candidates receive the KNX Basic Certificate and are recognised as an official KNX Partner, an internationally trusted credential.
No prior knowledge is required, making this course accessible to anyone keen to expand their skills and future-proof their business.
Collaboration across the industry
A core part of the programme is collaboration. Each training course will include a session where students can meet a KNX wholesaler, gaining direct insight into supply chain support and product availability.
This approach reflects the broader KNX UK ethos: manufacturers, distributors, and integrators working side by side to build skills, strengthen networks, and accelerate the growth of KNX in the UK market.
Paul Foulkes, Theben UK Country Manager, commented:
“Training is the foundation for raising standards across the KNX industry. By opening up more opportunities for installers to gain certification here in the UK, we’re helping to build confidence, grow the KNX community, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest standard. Collaboration with distributors adds real value, giving students a direct connection to the wider supply chain from day one.”
As KNX continues to set the standard for open, scalable building automation, initiatives like this ensure that UK professionals are well-prepared to deliver projects with confidence.
