Details

Islington’s Chronicle Tower consists of 146 apartments and one four story Penthouse. At 36 storeys, this development stands as Islington's tallest building, with the apartments benefitting from unrivalled views, a spa, lounge and 24 hour concierge. Built by Squire & Partners, the engineers behind the world’s largest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Chronicle Tower features an impressive KNX system from integrators, Union Systems, working in close collaboration with developers, Mount Anvil.

Union Systems designed and installed the KNX solution to provide the owners of these luxury apartments with automation and control of the lighting, AV, HVAC and shading. The specification included a home media network, multi-room audio and KNX control of HVAC, under-floor heating, comfort cooling, lighting and blind control.

The site included a 4-pipe fan coil system operating on a 0-10V electrical supply.

There are building-wide automated blinds at Chronicle Tower. This technology is fully automatic in tracking the position of the sun, opening and closing to control and optimise solar gain.

Union Systems see themselves as champions for KNX and believe it to be the “go-to” solution for the large majority of projects. Chronicle Tower has perfectly suited to the deployment of KNX and benefitted in a myriad of ways from the technology installed.

The flexibility and scalable nature of KNX lends itself to these type of large MDU developments.
